Pest controller’s can get a bad rep with thinking all we do is kill everything, and never want to save anything?! Well, BEEKIND™ is here to try to change that perspective, aimed at humane approaches to wildlife, where we save what we can from harm, being poisoned or killed someway or other. We are also advocates in saving bees. We want a future for our children to have fresh fruit and vegtables, so by educating people about bees, and try to save as many as we can, it means these important pollinators continue to live and do their important work. Too many times do l get called, asking to go out and spray bees, even though they could just be masonry or mining bees! We have this mindset that if we don’t understand something it needs to be killed! Well, my aim to change people’s minds, approach, and re think that not all pest controller’s want to kill everything! Having served in the Guards division for 10 years, l learned that many ex service men and women suffer from mental health, and then l learned more and more people who suffer it, from rising costs of living, to paying bills, working in a toxic environment, having had a tough childhood, losing a family or friend can all cause pain, so l ask you all, when you see my brand, my van or even me, to try to BEEKIND™ to each other more.

BEEKIND™ Pest Control offers a full project management service for bee removals, from investigation and removal to reinstatement and proofing. This is also accompanied by a ten-year guarantee. Should you wish for us to only remove the colony, we can offer a cheaper quote based on this option only. Please be aware, honeybee removals are generally more than what people anticipate due to the amount of work required to get to the colony, the amount of work to safely remove the hive, which involves removing building fabric, the dangers involved in being stung and ensuring the colony is saved and re-homed. Without the queen, the bees will not leave the site and can pose a threat to builders, roofers or owners if she is not found. It takes a trained eye to find the queen and lots of patience. She is the best player of hide and seek, so there is no time-frame of how quickly the colony can be removed, as it is all dependent on locating the queen, getting her in a queen catcher, then placing her in a temporary nuc box, waiting a few hours for the 60,000 bees to go in the box, then drive a few hours away to re-home them. All this has to take place before the clean up and bee proofing measures can be carried out, and the last stage being the reinstatement works. This can be rebuilding a wall, a chimney stack, re felting and re tiling a roof, refitting floor boards or even blocking holes and fitting new plasterboard on internal walls. They do not make getting to them easy!
Honeybee removal services are lengthy, often carried out in hot weather from 20-34oC temperatures, while wearing a triple layered hornet proof bee suit, thick leather gloves and being attacked by thousands of angry bees. Please do not think it is a job that is easy to undertake, cheap, quick, or we can simply scoop them up and remove them. We urge you to really do your homework on honeybee removals by watching our videos on YouTube or Instagram, reaching out to bee keepers and asking them for advice and even getting 2-3 quotes. This will then manage your expectations and prepare you financially and mentally in what needs to be done to ensure the colony is removed and you are guaranteed they will never come back. Do they come back? Only if we do not carry out the bee proofing measures, then yes they can. Leaving the bees is also not an option, as honeybee colonies will want to reproduce more queens, with queens only wanting to fly no more than 50-200m away which may end up with your home having 1-5 colonies in it.
